ABOUT FEESDunedin Orienteering Club pays the NZ Orienteering Federation an affiliation fee. The amount depends on the number of DOC and total NZ members and is generally $8-10 per member per year, with an event fee levy of 25% per event. The committee is very aware that local membership fees must be kept as affordable as possible. The basic DOC membership fee covers NZOF affiliation and club administration costs. Any surpluses are used to replace equipment and develop new map areas. Event fees cover costs of map printing, plastic bags, clip cards, out-of-town Planner and Controller travel expenses, map revision and new map production. |
WHY BECOME A MEMBER OF DOC?
"Is it cheaper to be a DOC member or pay extra at events? I really just want to go along and enjoy a spot of local orienteering". Well, OK, but the basic question of cost is only one aspect to consider. Like all non-commercial activities, things only happen because of the existence of strong organisations with sustained membership. A club is as strong as its members make it. If you've never orienteered before, do come along as a "casual" and try before you buy. If you enjoy it, we hope you'll put something back into the sport by joining the Dunedin Orienteering Club. "Yes, I do a sport. It's called Orienteering" |
LIFE MEMBERSWe have acknowledged the contribution to club activities made by several people by awarding them Life Membership: Peter Wilson |
